The Social Research Laboratory (SRL), a full-service research and teaching facility located within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Northern Arizona University, has been conducting applied research for clients throughout Arizona and the nation since 1988.

The SRL offers quality research services to public, private, and nonprofit clients while providing graduate and undergraduate students at NAU with applied research instruction and experience.

Specializing in public opinion studies, needs assessments, program evaluations, and demographic and social issue analyses, the SRL regularly utilizes telephone survey, mail survey, and focus group methodologies in its research projects.

Our Services:

• Proposal Writing: The SRL can assist clients with developing proposals for outside funding, including writing grant proposals and preparing Internal Review Board documentation.

• Research Design: The SRL works with clients to determine the best way to find the answers they are looking for.

• Data Collection: Equipped with a state-of-the-art 20-station calling center staffed with well-trained telephone interviewers, the SRL is capable of quickly conducting large or small telephone surveys.

• Analysis and Reporting: SRL staff members are skilled in both quantitative and qualitative analysis of data. The SRL produces in-depth reports that present this analysis in ways that are both insightful and easy to understand.

• Needs Assessment / Outcome Measures: The SRL staff works with groups, businesses and agencies to assess the need for services or products.

• Program Evaluation: The SRL are trained in conducting comprehensive evaluations of programs as well as issues of implementing, defining goals and objectives, and measuring program services.
